At Blackhawk K-9, we provide foster care for these dogs, offering them a safe haven and the opportunity to thrive until we find them their ideal forever home.

What is the adoption process?
  1. Explore Available Dogs: Browse our website to view profiles of dogs available for adoption. Each profile includes information about the dog's age, personality, and any special needs or requirements.
  2. Submit an Application: Complete and submit our adoption application form online. This helps us understand your preferences and ensure the best possible match between you and the dog.
  3. Application Review: Our adoption team will review your application to assess your suitability and compatibility with the dog you're interested in. We may contact you for additional information or clarification.
  4. Meet and Greet: If your application is approved, we'll arrange a meet and greet with the dog. This is an opportunity for you to interact with the dog, ask questions, and see if it's a good fit for your family and lifestyle.
  5. Training Lessons: After the meet and greet, we provide personalized training lessons for your family. These lessons help transfer the training the dog has received to you, ensuring a successful integration into your home.
  6. Home Visit: In some cases, we may conduct a home visit to ensure that your home environment is safe and suitable for the dog. This step helps us ensure a smooth transition and adjustment for both you and the dog.
  7. Adoption Agreement: Once everything is finalized and both parties are comfortable, we'll proceed with signing the adoption agreement. This document outlines the terms and conditions of the adoption, including the adoption fee and our commitment to the dog's welfare.
  8. Take Your Dog Home: Congratulations! Once the adoption agreement is signed and the adoption fee is paid (if applicable), you can take your new furry friend home. We provide support and guidance during the initial transition period to help ensure a successful integration into your family.
  9. Follow-Up: We follow up with you after adoption to see how things are going and provide any additional support or resources you may need. We're committed to the lifelong well-being of our dogs and are here to assist you every step of the way.
How do we select applicants?

We carefully select applicants who we believe will provide the best care for each dog. We prioritize approving applicants who are committed to providing professional training for their dog, either through our company with a 10% discount or through another local, trusted, insured, certified, and approved training provider. Applicants who demonstrate capability and a willingness to handle their dog's training themselves are given priority during our selection process. 

After filling out your application, please contact us via call, text, or email to inquire about the recommended training for the dog you are applying for. We appreciate your patience as we prioritize the health, well-being, and training of the dogs in our care. While we strive to respond promptly, please understand that due to the high volume of inquiries, it may take us up to a couple of weeks to reply to all interested adopters and clients.

Please note that we are unable to allocate time to communicate with potential adopters who have not yet completed an application. Therefore, we kindly request that you refrain from texting, calling, or emailing until after you have submitted your application.

How much is the adoption fee?

The cost of adopting one of our dogs is $500.

This fee helps cover expenses such as veterinary care, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and other necessary treatments to ensure our dogs are healthy and ready for their forever homes.

Your adoption fee not only supports the well-being of our dogs but also contributes to our efforts in rescuing and caring for more animals in need.

What is included in my adoption fee?

Our adoption fee of $500 covers everything your new pup needs to start their journey with you. This includes comprehensive care such as spaying/neutering and being up-to-date on vaccinations. Your pup will also come equipped with any necessary training collars and has received personalized lessons to help them adjust to their new home. We ensure that you and your family are fully prepared by providing personalized meetings and guidance throughout the adoption process.

I need help with training! What can I do?

While basic lessons are included in your adoption fee through Blackhawk K-9, you have the option to purchase additional training from them at a 10% discount.
